Colorado AAR: Hardcore Facts

First, it is obvious that James Holmes is not an Enemy of Liberty - he's just a broken brain.

But, if you are not prepared for the Hard Things, this is not the proper venue for you.

May all of the Enemies of Liberty be so ill-prepared to do violence as James Holmes.

He had every tactical advantage. He had fish in a barrel. He had unarmed victims. He had the element of surprise. He had gas and he protected himself from that gas. He had an AR, a scattergun and a Glock with plenty of reloads (according to most reports).

The average multi-plex theater holds 300 seats.

His performance: 12 dead + 58 wounded.

Sorry, folks. That is just plain bad shooting and tactical execution.

Had he intended to kill everyone in that theater, he should have been able to score at least 90% KIA.

May all of the Enemies of Liberty who will challenge Patriots be as inefficienct as James Holmes.

They will not be.

Prepare accordingly.

  1. I'm not sure what to make of this guy. If the reports of what he amassed are correct, I'm wondering where a grad student got that kind of coin (or credit). Dropping around $10K since April is significant and I would like to know where that money trail leads.

You and AmMerc are correct, though. Just because someone has all the best gear doesn't mean they know what the hell they are doing. However, even if by tactical standards he was inefficient, he still did a hell of a lot of damage, a 70:1 ratio. Our enemies may not have to be good, but we do.

    1. I read that his parents were wealthy. He was probably one of those rich kids with an unlimited allowance and no accountability for his spending.
But again, it was something I read in the MSM and we all know they never print anything unless they thoroughly check it out first.....

  2. I think the whole thing is just strange. Why would you go to the trouble to booby trap your apartment and then tell the cops that you did so? What is his motive, I've never heard, maybe not enough free stuff???
Of course, he may just be nuts, I guess.

  5. While the PTB will try to use this for more gun control (support for the UN small arms treaty will no doubt increase because of this, coincidence?). A better example to make of it would be; if 1 in 3 people had been concealed carry, what would the outcome have been? Even if it was only 1 in 10, the loss of life/injuries may have been drastically reduced.

This is why more people should be trained to carry, not less.

  6. Those who do carry need to practice even more. Never know when our skills will be needed. Attend more training classes, have a back up plan. A lot of people are saying shooting the gunman would have been tough. How about waiting til he reloaded and taking him out with some self defense moves.

  7. Most people, even if they do carry, don't have the training or mindset to take action under fire. I agree with Redwulf and firecracker that a TRAINED armed person would have changed the situation. Same with the Virginia Tech massacre, the Luby's massacre (Killeen, TX). It's not just having the weapon, it's having the ability to use it without hesitation.

    1. Agreed, training is a no-brainer.

The standard training for EVERYONE who shoots should include heavy doses of 21 feet in low-light conditions in unfamiliar surroundings with light and other distractions.

"Training" must never be defined purely as "NRA-approved course..." or anything similar.

    2. I've had training on a firing range which is fine if your target is pinned to a pully system and not moving. Nothing beats the training my dad gave me, teaching me to react in pressure situations. He told me,"An attacker is never going to stand there patiently and wait for you to get your shit together." I love my Poppy.
