Strawberry banana Smoothies - yes, you read that properly...

It's a little-known fact that smoothies are a big hit at fighting studios.  My personal favorite is strawberry, banana, with a scoop of vanilla or strawberry (Breyers) ice cream.  Some people like to add yogurt or ice or a slice of apple or a dollop of honey.  Those who want it can get a shot of protein powder (Thanks BR!)

We plan to have a full smoothie bar (fruit only - no veggies - which explains the need for blenders on the wish list) to carb-up after class.  We'll also have the typical water/juice/Red Bull/Energy Drinks, et cetera.

Sorry, no liquor license and no food.

What is your smoothie addiction and/or preference, if you have one?  After dumping 2-5 pounds of water weight in a 90 minute class, what would you be hunting for to sate that thirst and hunger?

I know, not a very rah-rah Kill all Commies kinda post.  I'm a very complex and sensitive guy.  ;)

    1. Great idea! As you pointed out, III Mountain is covered with Huckleberry bushes. You up for some Huckleberry picking when they're in season? ( HK will come with you, but will cover your back as she watches for Razor.)

    1. Yeah, bears & moose with young ones & wolves that are the size of bears. Heck, train up a little bit, all you girls have to do is run faster than Razor. Problem solved.

  6. Kerodin,

I know this has nothing to do with any kind of 'defensive training' but I am a surfer down here in Texas. Surfing is an intense cardio workout from all the paddling that we have to do against the currents, winds and oncoming waves. I have paddled thousands of yards in hurricane surf against waves 8 to 12 foot in size. I can't dive my surfboard under a large wave (duck dive) I have to race to the top of the wave or 'turn turtle' as we call it and roll over and let wave race over the bottom of our surfboards and create as 'little resistance as possible'
All the surfing has helped a lower bank injury (disc related) and an old knee injury (future knee replacement)

(surfing is real, real low impact unless you smack into a sandbar at low tide)

On the smoothie part. After surfing for a while I really need to drink water (lots of water). I also eat "Think Thin Bars" (sugar free) and when I need a real calorie boost, I eat the hell out of 'Peanut M&M's. I can get so hungry that small dogs on the beach and the tourist walking them start looking like walking "Big Mac's"

At the "Texas Patcon' back in September. I surfed the Friday afternoon before the Patcon and took a break on Saturday afternoon and went surfing. Sea See understood' but a few others Patriots just shook their heads confusion. I guess I am a 'rogue within a rogue group'

The surf was just too good that Saturday afternoon.

Also Kerodin, for what its worth, I don't smoke, I hardly ever drink alcohol. I don't do drugs but my only vice is coffee with sugar (something I need to cut down on)

    1. Life is short, I eat like a 7 year-old - I'll probably be dead from bad diet by 55 - assuming my wife doesn't kill me sooner on general principles. ;a0

    2. I don't make smoothies, but my wife uses them after her workouts. She uses yogurt, choice of fruit, peanut butter and/or almond butter, and flax seed (fiber). Might be more to it, but I don't look at the mixer, I look at her, my favorite thing to do.

  7. No veggies? What about the type I dibetics? 'course if I ever managed to take you class, I'd probably stoke-out from low blood sugar long before an hour and a half passed...

    1. Sorry - Veggies require food handler permits and such, more aggravation than it's worth. But I bet you could bring your own mix and borrow our blender. ;)

  8. There's a reason huckleberries go for around 40-60 bucks a gallon. It's work to pick them...and then there's that tire that was ruined...don't ask.....
