So, Texans - how are you going to roll?

HOUSTON -

Members of the gun rights group Open Carry Texas met with Fifth Ward community leaders Wednesday, hoping to explain why they chose an historic African-American community to hold a demonstration.

Members of the group were met by a chorus of voices telling them to stay out of the neighborhood and warned they will be "matched gun-for-gun."

"I'm going to tell you something homie, this is Fifth Ward, you ain't coming in here running nothing," community activist Quanell X said while flanked by members of the New Black Panther Party, who were holding assault rifles.

The two groups sat across from one another at a small folding table under a tree near the intersection of Lockwood and Lyons to discuss the details of Saturday's upcoming event.

Local 2 Investigates counted 15 Houston police officers on-hand to monitor the meeting.

"You're coming into the Fifth Ward and to the black community as insurgents," said Krystal Muhammad, with the New Black Panther Party.

"I beg your pardon?" said David Amad, with Open Carry Texas.

"You are insurgents," said Muhammad.

~~

Might I suggest any interested Texans contact the Fifth Ward leaders and bring them aboard the team, united against the common enemy, rather than permit the race-mongers make it a black-white scrum.

The problem is blue - not black or white.

Here's the link.

  1. K, with "wanting to know if The Mars Rover had taken a photograph of the flag planted on Mars by Neil Armstrong in 1969" Sheila Jackson Lee repping Houston, I wouldn't expect the citizens of 5th Ward to step outside of her line of brainchild leadership ability and be open to the idea of what this group is trying to get across to them. It's a lost cause in my opinion. After all, according to her, this country has been operating under the Constitution for 400 years. You didn't know?

Today's forecast: 100% chance of sarcasm with slight chance of inebriation.

    Have a great afternoon.

    1. Agreed. ;)

I would be tickled to watch her at a podium telling her own Fifth Ward people to give up their guns, too.

    2. Update: HOUSTON – Open Carry Texas announced Thursday night that the group is putting off its planned protest in Houston's Fifth Ward.

The gun rights group met with local activists Wednesday night, and things got heated over the plan to carry weapons in the neighborhood.

Open carry officials are working with fifth Ward residents to plan a joint demonstration.

  2. no, it SHOULD NOT be black v. white, but it is what it is.

"I still don't understand why we have racial division. I don't understand why this is a racial issue," said Grisham.

    a very naive statement, imho

after decades upon decades of a self-inflicted pubic and private social diet consisting of hatred and racism with a convoluted sense of self-importance and what's "owed" to them, there could not have been any other response than "stay outtah my hood, whitey." this malignant destructive ideology is something which unfortunately pervades the black community of America. there may well be small pockets of some kind of counter thought but it pales to unrecognizable when the whole is considered.

what he might have done to maybe avoid such a situation was to meet in advance - waaaaaaay in advance but even that may not have secured the trust of that community. after all, he's white - plain and simple - as are most leo's. even if they aren't, often they're labeled as "tom's" or "oreos".

when the free exchange of ideas finally reaches the inevitable crescendo so many are doing so much to cause(including the stupid race-baiters), there will be no support for Rightful Liberty from said communities.

    all imho, of course.

  4. We had open carry in CA, but OC Advocates started being blatent about it so our democritic leaders made it illegal. Great work guys. I have very mixed feelings about this group. The only good thing about it is that it is forcing our enemies to reveal themselves. IMHO

  5. The problem is only open carry of long guns is allowed in Texas. If they allowed open carry of pistols, this whole people carrying "scary rifles" thing wouldn't be an issue. They do it to show "hey look, we're carrying 'scary' rifles and no one is getting hurt, why can't we open carry pistols?" It's pretty ridiculous, especially being Texas. The only things i see from opposing sides are arguments about how it makes people FEEL, emotion based arguments. Why sign your name to a government list and pay money to carry a pistol hidden on your person? Why not be able to carry without a permit in the open? Seems pretty simple to me. As far as the Commiefornia thing, they have been going libtard for decades, it wasn't 2A people that brought that.

  6. Welp, they folded on the event, in a way. They have decided to relocate it to downtown Houston as a school supply drive for the Fifth Ward kids. From their Facef*ck post...

"There's a rumor going around that the fifth ward event is still going to happen tomorrow. NOT true. Because the fifth ward event was designed to be like all other events around the Houston area, OCT Houston will instead be holding their event downtown. They will be collecting school supplies for the children of fifth ward. This may be where the confusion is originating from."

I'm tired of people being "scared" of guns. They are simply a tool like a power drill or a damn Bridgeport milling machine. I've seen more injured from the latter than I have from guns. And what really gets me is the so called "pro 2A" types that bash this whole open carry thing, using the SAME ARGUMENT as the Libtards. "It scares people, blah blah blah." If we could open carry handguns in Texas without logging into Big Brother's system and paying the "fee" to excercise a right, people wouldn't be trying to prove a point to begin with by open carrying so called "assault" rifles. I tend to think it's that CCL holders are jealous and have the mentality that "I had to pay for MY permit and put MY name on the list, you should have to also!"

    1. Brilliant analysis. Spot on all around, including about licenses.

There's a (misleading) term for that---"rent-seeking." Real rent seeking is good; this sort of rent-seeking is bad. It's the way of our world these days..."Hey, I'm permitted to do this and you aren't!"
