Practical Prepping

It has been another week.  What have you accomplished in the last seven days or so to forward the ability of yourself, family, friends and Tribe to survive and prevail the coming Liberty Games?

Did you stock up on more guns, ammo and replacement parts, anticipating a potential Sandy Hook run on the shelves after Orlando?

Are you stockpiling gear to distribute to new allies who WILL show up at your door once things get sporty?  No matter how 'Grey Man' you think you are, those in your work/friend/community have already tagged you as 'That Guy'.  By default, you will become an Officer in the Liberty Forces.

Make certain you have the fundamentals of Shoot, Move, Communicate, Auxiliary & Strategic Services to pass out to friends and neighbors who can help improve your manpower deficit.

  1. Over the last few weeks our group has finished building out four full sets of 'spare' kit, including - rifle, pistol, mags and ammo for both, LBE, pack, messkit, sleeping bag, poncho, cammo outer-wear, individual comms (handheld radio with 2 battery packs and a solar charger), and other essential gear (I'm not dislosing our full load-out for obvious reasons, but it's extensive).

We will continue building our spares inventory in terms of 'whole kits' like this, for two solid reasons- first, because we know that any group member taken into police custody (for whatever reason) will likely have their kit seized, and two, because we reasonably expect a number of "doorstep patriots" to show up, when things go plainly and obviously hot.

Think, plan, and prepare for the obvious, and you will not be disappointed.

Make every day a productive day, and you minimize your risk of having regrets later...

    1. Excellent points Quiet.one.

I like the term "doorstep patriot".

    2. Yep, "doorstep patriot", I like it too. And that's where they'll be or assuming the phones are working, ringing yours off the hook.

Kudos on putting together complete kits. We limited ours to just fighting kits. Damned expensive undertaking it is.

Continued work on the design and parts list for the electrical grid this week. Going up this week-end to finish the rifle range and shoot the Army rifle qualification course on it for its inauguration. ;-)

    3. Alan, I know for a fact how much time and effort you've put in over the last 8+ years, and it is worthy of substantial praise and respect. Your discretion also marks you as a man of solid character... as evidenced on the mall in DC, and numerous other engagements which could have gone sideways, had you not been there to help keep them on track.

Just know that, regardless of any circumstances, you are welcome among my tribe - any time, without question. And if you need kit, its yours for the asking... even if you are headed elsewhere, and will likely not pass our way again.

  2. I stock up on fish antibiotics any chance I get. If you look up the particular antibiotic you want to stock (or need right now) on drugs.com or elsewhere, it will show you what the prescription pill looks like (color, markings, etc.) The ones I have purchased have been identical, most likely manufactured in the same pharmaceutical plants, simply put in bottles marked for fish use. I can't say they are ALL the same, but the Amoxicillin and Clindamycin I purchased have shown to be identical to the prescribed human form. Can order online from vet suppliers, no prescription needed. Obviously, do not use if it doesn't match, and try a different supplier. Due diligence and all that. Just thought I'd throw that up in case anyone didn't know.

    2. Hey Aaron, where is the best place to go for fish antibiotics? Every Prepper type place I have seen them they are way overpriced.

    3. I usually look on Google shopping, they go by names like Fish-Cin for Clindamycin and Fish-Mox for Amoxicillin, Fish-zole for metronidazole, Fish-pen for penicillin. Look for vet suppliers, they will be the cheapest.

    But I haven't price-shopped in a while.

  4. Going back to a conversation we had last year, what are the chances of group buys on these types of items?
Is there price breaks on large orders? Is there enough interest to come up with a list of products that can be acquired at a discount if enough of us pool our resources?
Just a thought as I am interested in topping off my preps and adding things I will need.

  5. Agreed, ToneDeaf, medical preps are a money-pit. There are so many things, both durable equipment wise and supplies/softgoods wise -- and none of it is inexpensive.

Within our group we collectively buy stuff for our blow-out kits and trauma packs - so we can order from wholesalers, and its still not a cheap proposition. The last 'case' of quick tournequets we bought cost over $200 with shipping, and there were only 24 units in a 'case'. Since our standard personal blow-out kit has two TQs in it, that 'case' was just enough for 1 squad: 2 per team member X 10 men in a squad, plus 4 in the squad-level trauma pack... and actually we have more than 4 in the trauma pack - we have like 8 or 10 in it, because that's our only source of field replenishment. Same thing with Israeli Bandages, Quick-Clot, bulky gauze bandages, Kerlix, and rapid-splints. We go heavy on all those in our squad-level trauma packs, because there is a real probability that we will be treating more than just our own people with those supplies.
