  1. Charlotte has, for at least the last 30 years, been a progressive/democrat-run zoo of a city - very similar to Chicago, Baltimore and Detroit - and over the last two decades crime has been consistently rising in Mecklenburg county (which the city of Charlotte occupies roughly 90% of) even as the national averages for both violent crimes and crimes against property have been consistently declining.
Don't take my word for it, look at the stats for yourself - http://www.crimemapping.com/map/location/Charlotte,%20North%20Carolina,%20United%20States?id=GST7YMc0AM9UOsE9HhFtGTyVGST7YMc0AM9UOsE9DbTVHgA9HhB0Zcp0OhNtGMytaikZU5dGQsNKUFc4Hhp0OSTaSsEqAZ43AP9zJikuGPAmIYxQGPT-CZc0YiD7DsKJCZyAOh5-Dn47Z5Et1b9aDbTGZbxF

Charlotte is enemy-held territory - there's no other way to describe it - and I advise with the strongest language possible, against anyone traveling there, or even getting off the freeway while passing through Mecklenburg County. Charlotte is "the mugging capital of North Carolina", and has been for quite a number of years now. Gang members hang out around the restaurants and filling stations located near several of the freeway exits, for the specific purpose of mugging and/or carjacking travelers.

  2. I have a good friend (retired USAF intel) who now works for a local PD in a large NC city (not Charlotte, but close). His intel group has been tasked, he tells me, with monitoring social media and producing link diagrams of cells/networks, and providing those same to the Charlotte PD. In addition, they're producing transcripts of "relevant" conversations. Be interesting to see what Charlotte PD does with that info....or FedGov even.
