Sierra Match King HPBT #GM308M
- NATO M118 .308 Sniper HPBT

The Ballistic Tip or HPBT rounds will yield better terminal energy transfer at short range than an FMJ, but the fact is that, at <=300 meters, any NATO Spec. 147gr FMJ will do a very acceptable job. In that class, I have a preference for the German made "DM111 Weichkern" 200rd. battle packs - I have burned through dozens of these battle-packs, and have found the reliability and round-to-round consistency to be excellent. Of course, not being perfect, I try to plan for such potential mistakes.Jim Kleinnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4236695365244926782.post-60945584437621134442013-09-21T20:00:26.157-07:002013-09-21T20:00:26.157-07:00One company rep wrote back "Under what scenar...One company rep wrote back "Under what scenario would you ever consider a .308 at 300 yards "self defense?"

I didn't bother to answer him. ;)

Indeed, and a poor salesman to boot.Brock Townsendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11404173139501539265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4236695365244926782.post-13540663146781941772013-09-21T14:14:50.179-07:002013-09-21T14:14:50.179-07:00The most accurate factory round I've found out...The most accurate factory round I've found out of my Socom is the 110 gr Hornady TAP. Haven't checked the velocity, but guessin' from the tables, it's around 2800 fps from the muxxle, and around 1850 at 300 mtrs, with excellent accuracy.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00671140850098921150noreply@blogger.com
