It is not an action of conquest, nor a mission of plunder; The objectives of Just warfare are:
1. to defend the civil population(s) and their communities;
2. to destroy the enemy's will and ability to sustain the war they have undertaken;
3. to destroy, capture, or cause to retreat all enemy forces, including those forces native to the territory, but who are loyal to the enemy(ies).

Lastly, and particularly in a civil war, those incorrigibles amongst the population who provide aid and comfort to the enemy must be rooted out and dealt with exactly as if they were enemy combatants - they must be killed or forcefully expatriated as prisoners at the end of hostilities, without any property or means whatsoever. This bears necessity for two reasons -
a. while the enemy retains support elements within the area of conflict, the conflict is not resolved - this is the difference between true peace and a provisional cease-fire
b. they are in their very nature a subversive lot, as established by their treachery against their own community and nation, and thus their loyalty can never again be trusted. Ever.

To do less that achieving total victory is to fail. There are no in-betweens.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
